Sweet Almond Oil Benefits For Acne
In addition to using sweet almond oil for lubricating and enhancing the natural glow of facial skin, many people are finding that the oil can be helpful for treating acne.
Acne is a a common skin problem caused by overactive sebaceous glands. Under normal conditions, these glands produce a substance called sebum, which the body uses to moisturize the hair and skin.
When the glands produce excess sebum, skin pores can get clogged and infected, which can cause the condition known as acne.
Light Almond Oil Works For Acne
One of the reasons sweet almond oil is believed to work so well to clean the skin is because it is a light oil that readily mixes with other oils including those contained in the skin.
After almond oil is applied and allowed to bind with the sebum and impurities in the skin, it can be washed away, returning the skin to a normal, balanced condition.
Almond Oil Blended For Acne
While almond oil works well for many people, some find that it works best when combined with other essential oils, such as lavender, geranium or palmarosa.
Some people mix the lemon oil with almond and use it as an astringent. Others mix almond oil with oatmeal and apply the mixture as a mask, leaving it on the face overnight, to help draw out and absorb any extra sebum, oils and impurities in the skin.
Almond oil rarely irritates a person’s skin but it should not be used by anyone with nut allergies. If you decide to try using almond oil for acne, it is a good idea to apply it to a small area first to see how it affects your skin.
