Way back in 1984 in Maine, Roxanne Quimby and Burt Shavitz joined forces making and selling candles made from beeswax. Selling $200 worth at at their first craft fair, by the end of the first year their sales reached $20,000 and Burt’s Bees was born.
With special attention to detail, they have grown the company from its humble beginnings to a world-renowned corporation selling over 150 products with an emphasis on quality from sourcing to finished product.
Their stated goal is to produce “the best natural personal care products out there to help you maximize your well-being”. Over fifty percent of their products are 100% natural and they are working diligently to reach 100 percent, through reformulations and testing. They even label every container with a “natural bar” to help you determine the level of natural ingredients used in their wares.
In addition, they use only natural colors in their products and most of their packaging is created from recycled materials or developed with an emphasis on recycling and re-use. Finally, their packages are designed to hold the right amount of each product to last until it expires, so you won’t have to discard partial tubes or jars and further clutter the Earth with unnecessary waste.
Truly a company with a conscience, Burt’s Bees sets the standard for goods that enhance the quality of life for those who choose to use them.
Sweet almond oil is a major component of many Burt’s Bees products.
